Morgan + Jason met at a wedding in Rehoboth Beach. Twenty months after that mutual friend’s wedding, Morgan and Jason were exchanging vows and rings of their own. When you know, you know. With the help of event designer extraordinaire Jodi Moraru of EVOKE and Morgan’s wonderful, detail-oriented mother, the couple planned a beautiful celebration full of sparkle, Tiffany blue and personal touches. Morgan’s garter was made of fabric from her mother’s wedding gown. Her cascading bouquet included family broaches. The flower girls — Morgan’s nieces — provided all the twirls, purple tulle, candy and laughter that anyone could hope for in a wedding. The couple said their I do’s at the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, a 143-year-old Gothic Revival church with towering spires and iconic red doors that have been the backdrop for countless wedding photos — even among couples who don’t exchange vows at the church. After some efficient family photos and some beautiful portraits of the newlyweds in Mount Vernon Place, we walked across the street for a beautiful reception at the George Peabody Library, one of my most favorite venues in the Baltimore-DC area. Renowned for its striking, dramatic interior, the library features five levels of ornate cast-iron balconies that house the collection of books and rise to a beautiful skylight. It was such a pleasure to work with these families! Here are some of my favorites from their big day:
We started at the Hotel Monaco Baltimore, where Morgan and her bridesmaids and Jason and his groomsmen, separately, prepared for the festivities.
I loved the ID that Morgan used for Jason in her cell phone.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the hotel, Jason and the guys were getting ready, listening to music and drinking Coronas.
On a day-long sugar high from all the candy that they adorably consumed together, the flower girls were thrilled upon spotting their wedding wands!
And then, they went back to their candy!
A real quote: “Mommy, why are you making my hair plastic?” So darling.
And then it was time to step into her gorgeous gown.
Another real quote: “I’m not eating more candy. They’re little gummy things that I just put into my mouth.”
And just like that, the daughter is a bride.
Morgan reads her note and opens her gift from Jason.
The bride, looking absolutely lovely.
After a few quick photos in the lobby of the beautiful Hotel Monaco Baltimore, we were off to the church.
These darling girls sure love their lollipops.
And then, it was time to get married.
I love this look from Jason’s brother and best man, Dave.
Lindsay, my wonderful assistant, was in the choir loft and upper balconies for the ceremony. She shot this next image on the left — and all of those from a similarly high vantage point.
We took a few quick family and wedding party photos on the steps of the church before taking a few minutes for photos of just the bride and groom around Mount Vernon Place.
And then we were off to the Peabody Library, also known as Baltimore’s Cathedral of Books. A few reception details:
A grand entrance and a first dance.
A little bit of dancing before dinner.
A trio of toasts — from Morgan’s parents, from her sister and from Jason’s brother — and a blessing.
The bride and her grandmother share a moment.
DJ Bruce Pike, of Bruce Pike Productions, did a wonderful job of keeping the dance floor full and the guests happy. Morgan + Jason, it was such a pleasure working with you, your friends and your families. Many, many congratulations!
