As I made my way around the room last night at Kristen + Austin’s rehearsal dinner, capturing candid moments and snapping group photos of their guests, a friend of the bride’s family approached me. She recognized me, she said, and wondered if I was a member of the family. I laughed as I explained that no, I was not a family member but rather their families’ official photographer at this point. I’ve now had the joy of shooting Kristen + Austin’s Jersey City engagement session last spring and their wedding shower and housewarming party this fall at the new home they recently bought and renovated. I’ve captured a not insignificant amount of side eye from their beloved bulldog Hugo. I’ve photographed them with rose gold LOVE balloons that made Kristen’s wonderful mother Gina very, very happy. I’ve crawled around on the floor of Morton’s Steakhouse with Austin’s 3-year-old nephew. And I’ve laughed like crazy with the friends and relatives of these wonderful people. As I print schedules and reformat memory cards for their wedding today at Corpus Christi Church and the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Hotel, I couldn’t resist looking back on and sharing some favorites from Kristen + Austin’s Jersey City engagement session and wedding shower.
