Veronica + Brian could not have asked for a more lovely spring day for their Belvedere wedding. Unlike recent weekends when we’ve battled downpours and thunderstorms and flash floods, they were graced with sunny skies, not-too-warm temperatures and a gentle breeze. They enjoyed a traditional Catholic ceremony at Saint Alphonsus Church followed by a sparkly and bejeweled reception at the Historic Belvedere Hotel. They also were graced with a gaggle of darling junior bridesmaids, flower girls and ring bearers and family and friends who so obviously could not have been more thrilled to gather to celebrate their union. One of my favorite moments from their wedding day was when they had a “family dance” in lieu of traditional parent dances. Veronica danced with Brian’s father — and was moved to tears during their spin across the dance floor — while Brian alternately danced with his mother and Veronica’s mother. Siblings stepped in, too, to dance with other family members. It could not have been more lovely and truly personified the union of two families on the wedding day. Here are some of my favorites from Veronica + Brian’s beautiful spring wedding:
I started with Veronica and the girls at the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore, where everyone in the wedding party was getting ready.
Oh how I love freckles on little girls!
Meanwhile, a few floors down, Brian and the guys were fussing with bow ties and toasting his impending marriage.
Back upstairs, the bride’s suite was a flurry of activity as bridesmaids studied online instructions and videos on the many ways to tie their dresses and Veronica moved from the make-up chair to the makeshift hair studio. I love this next photo of her gown hanging in all its beauty amidst all the activity.
Finally, it was time for Veronica to step into her gown.
The bride, looking absolutely lovely.
The couple decided they wanted to see each other before the ceremony for photos. I loved Veronica + Brian’s reactions upon seeing each other for the first time that day.
All day, at various points in the day, the couple’s videographers played “Uptown Funk” on tiny speakers and filmed footage of the wedding party dancing to compile for a music video-style highlights reel. Here, the bride + groom get down in Mount Vernon Place.
We made good use of the gorgeous light for some outdoor portraits of the couple.
After a whole bunch of family and wedding party photos, we headed back to the Four Seasons Baltimore so that the bride could freshen up and then we were off to Saint Alphonsus Church.
Then, it was time to get married!
I love catching these little glances and gestures for my clients.
As the afternoon sun moved across the sky, it happened to stream through the gorgeous stained glass windows of Saint Alphonsus Church and land right on Veronica like a spotlight as she and Brian kneeled during communion. It was beautiful!
There were two bagpippers outside to greet the couple and their guests as they exited the church.
The couple emerged into a burst of bubbles as the videographers’ drone flew overhead.
Then, we were off to the Belvedere for a few more photos and the party.
The ceremonious cutting of that towering cake.
