Michelle & Tadd — The Chesapeake Bay Hyatt — Maryland wedding photography

I met Michelle and Tadd through her brother, whose beautiful Chesapeake Bay wedding I photographed two and a half years ago. I had so much fun working with Marianne and Will’s families that I knew Michelle and Tadd’s wedding at the gorgeous Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort on Maryland’s Eastern shore would be equally wonderful. I got even more excited for their event when I received the schedule from their planner, Zoe Fernandez of Historic Events. Listed among the set-up for the reception were black Chivari chairs, square tables, dark silver linens, black chargers and black napkins, all from Perfect Settings. It all sounded so elegant!

I had scoped out the expansive property at the Hyatt in Cambridge for some nice options for photos with Michelle and Tadd after their ceremony. Then, a little hurricane named Earl started spinning toward the East Coast. The waves the day before their wedding were just massive and the wind was vicious. I started formulating back-up plans and lamenting the likelihood of an indoor ceremony and artificially lit indoor photos. My worrying, however, was completely unnecessary. The weather could not have been more perfect and I was thrilled when Michelle decided to go forward with her plans for an outdoor ceremony at the end of a long dock that juts out into the water from the Hyatt’s beach.

Here are some of my favorites from their big day:

I started at the hotel, where Michelle and her bridesmaids had their hair and make-up done by the resort’s Stillwater Spa & Salon.

I love this reaction from Michelle’s mom when she sees her daughter with her hair and make-up all done.

Her dress was stunning and fit her like a glove.

The bride, looking gorgeous.

Michelle had one of the longest walks down the aisle that I have ever seen. She and her father walked alllll the way from the Hyatt resort to the pavilion at the end of the dock. It was just lovely.

The bride and bridesmaids carried beautiful bunches of calla lilies from Exquisite Design Studios.

Michelle and Tadd’s guests — as well as the bride and groom themselves — were entertained by the story of their courtship, as told by officiant Joyce Cochran, a minister with Say I Do Your Way.

I love this look from Michelle to Tadd.

And these from their mothers.

The newlyweds.

The late-afternoon light spilling through the trees could not have been any more beautiful!

I love love this next image of Michelle and Tadd (even though it’s a little soft).

The florists, with Exquisite Design Studios, created a beautiful combination of tall and low centerpieces.

A first dance.

A few toasts.

A pair of parent dances.

And lots of merriment.

Congratulations, Michelle and Tadd. It was a pleasure working with you and your families. I’m oh so glad that Hurricane Earl skittered away in time for your big day!
