Madelyn & Zakariae — Tremont Grand — Baltimore wedding photography

I first met Madelyn and her mother last summer. They found me through a series of rather circuitous connections — a family friend attended a wedding that I had photographed, saw the collection of images that I created for my clients and recommended me to Madelyn’s mother when her daughter got engaged and started planning a June wedding in Baltimore. It would be Madelyn’s ‘American wedding,’ since she and Zak were married last July in his native Morocco. Madelyn’s photography experience at that celebration left her craving artful, natural and not-overly posed images of her and Zak — a style of photography that meshes perfectly with the artistic-documentary approach of my studio. From our very first meeting, I loved hearing Madelyn’s plans for their stateside celebration — the rich color scheme of golds and jewel tones, the Moroccan touches she planned to incorporate into the reception, the rooms they would be using at the always-fabulous Tremont Grand. Hearing more about her plans as the wedding day drew near made me even more excited to work with them. Despite a forecast of thunderstorms, they managed to have perfect and not-too-hot weather for our outdoor portraits and a fabulous celebration. Here are some of my favorites from their day:

Madelyn picked a beautiful gown, which she accented with a gold, crystal-embellished sash.

A few portraits of the bride looking beautiful.

A few groom details, thanks to Jamie, who was helping out as my assistant.

Madelyn and Zak decided to see each other before their ceremony for some photos. Madelyn could not have been more excited to see her husband that afternoon. I love this next series of images.

We had a great time making some casually posed portraits — just the kind of images that Madelyn & Zak were missing from their previous wedding celebration.

I love the transition from serious to smiley.

A few last-minute touch-ups before the ceremony.

And finally, it was time for the wedding ceremony.

I love this next image from Jamie — the warm glow of the little chapel from which Madelyn and her father entered the ceremony is just lovely!

An overhead shot from Jamie.

An emotional dad looks on as his daughter exchanges vows with her husband.

Madelyn really liked this little chapel, just off the Tremont Grand’s Edinburgh Room, so we had to stop in there for a few quick portraits.

We were breezing through family portraits — something I try to get done as efficiently and painlessly as possible. When it was time for Madelyn and Zak to be photographed with his parents, I was so thrilled to capture this spontaneous hug that Zak’s mom shared with her daughter-in-law.

And they were off to the party. I love this next image (left side) that Jamie captured of the wedding party waiting to join the reception. And I just adored Madelyn and Zak’s custom invitations. (And yes, those are little rhinestones on their monogram!)

A few reception details.

A first dance.

An emotional toast from the bride’s father.

A fun father-daughter dance.

And a super emotional thank-you from the bride to her parents. It was really touching.

Jacob Jensen of Absolute Entertainment kept the dance floor packed all night with a pumping mix of American and Moroccan tunes.

I love this next shot from Jamie of Jacob deejaying and planner extraordinaire Rachel Hoffberger Shaw, of Plan It Perfect, and her assistant Kim dancing in the corner toward the end of the night.

A stolen kiss at the end of the night.

Congratulations, Madelyn & Zak. It was an absolute pleasure working with you and your families! I wish you a wonderful marriage.
